Alternatively, you can use two tablespoons of cornstarch mixed in a cup of cold water to get the same outcome. If you don’t have cornstarch or flour, xanthan gum, potato starch, or arrowroot powder will do the trick.

How to Know if Dumplings Are Done

In most cases, dumplings will rise to the top of the soup once they are done. To ensure perfection, use a spoon to split one dumpling open, and check the inside to make sure. 

If you notice air bubbles and a soft biscuit-like consistency, you’re in good shape. If the center seems sticky or gummy, let it cook for a few more minutes.
