Simple, sweet and juicy, grilled peaches are perhaps the epitome of summer and stone fruit season. Grilling them enhances their natural sweetness and brings out their juices.

You can enjoy them plain, right off the grill, or top the warm grilled peaches with ice cream and salted caramel sauce or butterscotch sauce. This sweet and easy dessert takes hardly any time at all to prep and makes a fabulous summertime treat.

Grilled Peaches and Ice Cream

Grilled peaches and ice cream are a match made in dessert heaven. The warm, caramelized peaches pair perfectly with cool, creamy ice cream, creating a simple yet indulgent treat

Sure, we’re big proponents of this peach crisp with tapioca and we’d never turn down a slice of our peaches and cream tart. But this dessert is all about easy prep, easy clean-up, and it requires no interruption to your backyard barbecue dinner!

Similar to our grilled pineapple with cinnamon sugar, this easy peach recipe is a no-fuss, after-dinner treat that transforms the fruit into sweet, charred, deliciousness. You’ll only need three ingredients and 10 minutes on the grill. Sounds pretty peachy, right? 😉

Here is Why You Need to Grill Peaches

No fuss, no muss: With just a handful of ingredients and a quick grill time, this dessert is as easy as it gets—no need to fuss with complicated prep.

Perfect summer vibe: Charring peaches over the grill just screams summer, and they’re the ideal way to wrap up a backyard cookout or any warm-weather meal.

Customizable goodness: Whether you’re all about that ice cream life or prefer a drizzle of caramel, you can top these peaches any way you like—or keep it simple with just a sprinkle of cinnamon.

Minimal cleanup: We’re talking one plate and a brush for the oil—because nobody wants to spend relaxing evenings scrubbing dishes.

If you want more peach recipes, try our cast iron skillet peach cobbler or bourbon peach pie.

The Ingredient List:

  • Produce: Peaches
  • Pantry: cooking oil, Cinnamon
  • Optional Toppings: Ice cream, salted caramel sauce

To serve these charred peaches, top them with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, yogurt, etc. Toppings are of course optional, as these peaches are quite yummy on their own.

Personally, I love these peaches with ice cream and our salted caramel sauce. The combination of warm, charred peaches with cold ice cream is dreamy and the caramel sauce adds that something extra.

How to Grill Peaches

  1. Prep the grill. You can preheat the grill for a medium-hot fire or use the low heat after you’re done with your main course.
  2. Cut the peaches. Slice each of the peaches in half and remove the pits.
  3. Grill the peaches. Place the cut side down on the grill and cook them until they are warm and juicy and you can see grill marks.
  4. Transfer the hot peaches to a serving plate and sprinkle with cinnamon. Serve warm with ice cream and caramel sauce or a sprinkle of brown sugar.

Helpful Hints for the Grill and Tips for the Heat

Oil will prevent the peaches from sticking to the grill. Brush the cut side of the peach halves and the grill with oil.

Adjust the grill time. Cook the peaches for less time if the grill is hot. You’ll need to grill them for longer if the heat is low. We like to grill the peaches on low burning embers so they have time to get soft and juicy without burning.

Use the residual heat when you finish grilling meat. This is the perfect dessert to make after you finish cooking your main entrees like grilled chicken or grilled swordfish.

If you don’t want to cook outdoors, you can make this fresh peach recipe inside on a grill pan.

Variations

Maple Pecan Grilled Peaches: When they are finished cooking, drizzle the peaches with maple syrup and top them with chopped pecans.

Spiced Honey Peaches: Replace the cinnamon with a blend of nutmeg, cloves, and ginger, and drizzle the grilled peaches with honey.

Warm Peaches with Mascarpone and Balsamic Glaze: After they get nice and charred, dollop the peaches with mascarpone cheese and drizzle with a balsamic reduction for an elegant finish.

Tips For Success

  • Choose firm but ripe peaches. If the peaches are overly ripe, they will fall apart on the grill and get mushy.
  • The grill temperature is up to you. Peaches can be charred over a hot fire or over cooler embers, although the time it takes to cook them will vary based on the temp. A hotter fire will give the peaches darker char marks but a lower heat will allow the peaches more time to get soft and juicy in the center.
  • A light coating of oil on both sides of the peaches helps prevent sticking and ensures even grilling.
  • Experiment with wood chips. If you’re using a pellet grill, try different wood chips like apple or cherry to add a subtle smoky flavor to the peaches.

Storage

Place leftovers in an airtight container and store them in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Cold grilled peaches even make a delicious breakfast, served with granola and yogurt.

Best Peaches for Grilling:

Peaches are divided into two categories: freestone and clingstone. Have you ever come across a peach that is difficult to get the seed removed? That happens when you get a peach that is classified as a clingstone. Freestone peaches, on the other hand, are easy to separate from the seed.

It is hard to tell the difference between the two until you cut into the peach. If you are not sure if you are purchasing freestone or clingstone peaches, ask the grocer before you buy them.

Ingredients

  • 3 to 4 peaches
  • 1 tablespoon light olive oil or Avocado oil
  • Pinch of cinnamon

Optional toppings

Instructions

  • Prepare the grill for a medium-hot fire. Or use the low heat after you finish grilling your main meal. If you have a pellet grill, try using Apple or Cherry pellets, but any type of wood will taste great with the peaches.
  • Cut the peaches in half and remove the pits. Brush the cut side with oil.
  • Place cut side down on the grill and cook for 4 to 7 minutes (4 minutes if your fire is hot or 7 minutes if the heat is lower). While the peaches are grilling, brush the tops of them with more oil to prevent them from sticking when you flip them over.
  • Flip the peach halves over and grill for another 4 to 7 minutes.
  • Transfer the grilled peaches to a serving plate and sprinkle with cinnamon.
  • Serve warm with ice cream and caramel sauce.

Notes

  • Choose firm but ripe peaches. If the peaches are overly ripe and soft then they will fall apart on the grill and get mushy.
  • You can grill peaches over a medium hot fire or over lower heat. The time it takes them to cook will depend on how hot your grill is. You will get darker char marks when you use a hotter fire but if you use lower heat, the peaches will have more time to get soft and juicy in the center.
