Top it with tomato sauce, barbecue sauce, creamy white garlic pizza sauce, homemade pesto, or herbed butter.

To make naan pizza, you will need these simple ingredients:

  • baked naan (you can choose large or mini naan breads)
  • pizza sauce
  • shredded cheese of choice (shredded mozzarella cheese, fontina, Gouda and Jack cheese are all great options)
  • favorite variety of toppings
    • For meat lovers: pepperoni, cooked sausage, prosciutto, cooked bacon crumbles, diced ham, leftover steak or roast beef, or pulled pork.
    • Other topping ideas: spinach, fresh mozzarella, red onions, roasted tomatoes, olives, pineapple, sliced mushrooms, artichoke hearts, bell peppers, fresh basil leaves, crushed red pepper flakes, fresh herbs, Parmesan cheese

How to Make Easy Naan Pizza

The assembly is simple and you can choose a variety of meat toppings or vegetable toppings to create your favorite pizza combinations!

Spread on your favorite pizza sauce, layer the toppings, set the pizzas on a baking sheet and bake them for just a few minutes until the cheese melts and gets bubbly. It’s that simple!

Here’s a pro tip: you only need a few toppings on each pizza. If you make the topping layer too thick, the pizzas will take longer to bake and the flatbread crust can burn.

A sprinkle of fresh basil, crushed red pepper, or a drizzle of olive oil are a few guaranteed ways to elevate naan flatbread pizza.

Recipe Tips for the Best Results

  • For a naan pizza with a crispy crust: bake each naan for 2-3 minutes per side before assembling the pizzas.
  • If you’re using meat toppings, make sure the meat is completely cooked before layering it onto the naan pizzas. They don’t need to cook very long so don’t use raw meat unless you like rare tuna or rare beef.
  • If you’d like cooked vegetables on top of the pizza, you will need to cook them prior to assembling the pizza since most raw veggies won’t cook completely during the bake time. By the way, caramelized onions make a delicious topping.
  • If you’re using homemade naan, bake the dough for the naan bread before you assemble the pizzas because naan dough puffs up while it bakes. Try making our einkorn naan with onions.
  • To bake in a pizza oven: Preheat the pizza oven until the stone reaches a temperature of 450°F to 500°F. Place the naan pizzas directly on the stone and turn every 45 to 60 seconds until the cheese melts completely.
  • You can store any leftover pizza in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. They also freeze well and will keep up to three months.
  • To reheat, let frozen pizzas thaw completely then heat in the oven at 350°F for 5 to 8 minutes. Alternatively, place frozen pizzas in the oven at 325°F for 15 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 4 to 6 baked naan breads (purchased or homemade
  • ½ to ¾ cup pizza sauce
  • 1 to 1-½ cups shredded cheese (mozzarella, fontina, Gouda, and Jack cheese melt well)1/4

Pizza toppings for meat lovers

  • Pepperoni
  • Cooked sausage crumbled
  • Prosciutto
  • Cooked bacon crumbles
  • Ham finely diced
  • Leftover steak or roast beef
  • Pulled pork

  • Spinach

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 450°F. See the notes if you want a crispy crust. 
  • Place the naan bread on a baking sheet. Spread 2 tablespoons of pizza sauce over the top of each naan bread. 
  • Sprinkle with 1/4 cup of shredded cheese.
  • Add toppings of choice. You only need a small handful of toppings per pizza. If you get carried away and make the toppings too thick, the pizzas will take longer to bake and the crust can burn.
  • Bake for 7 to 9 minutes or until the cheese melts and gets bubbly. 
  • Remove from the oven and sprinkle with fresh basil and crushed red pepper if desired. 

Notes

  • For a crispy crust: Before you add the sauce, place each of the naan bread pieces directly on the oven grate and bake for 2 to 3 minutes on each side until they get crispy. Top with sauce and toppings then bake on the baking rack for 7 to 9 minutes until the cheese melts. 
  • For meat toppings: Make sure meat gets completely cooked before you assemble and bake the naan pizzas. 
  • If you want cooked vegetables on top of your naan pizza, you will need to cook the vegetables prior to assembling the pizza. Most raw vegetables will not cook completely before the naan pizza is finished cooking. 
  • If you pile a thick layer of cheese and toppings on the naan bread you will need to increase the baking time to get the cheese to melt.
  • Using homemade naan bread? Bake the dough for the naan bread before you assemble the pizzas. Since naan dough puffs up while it bakes, it works best to bake the naan bread first. 
  • To bake in a pizza oven: Preheat the pizza oven until the stone reaches a temperature of 450°F to 500°F. Place the pizzas directly on the stone and turn every 45 to 60 seconds until the cheese melts completely
