These figs and gorgonzola bites are a wonderful, no-cook appetizer that can be put together in a jiffy! You will be amazed at how quickly they will be devoured. They can be prepared in advance, refrigerated and brought to room temperature a few minutes before serving.
Figs are not overly sweet and have a crunchy texture due to the seeds but they are also very delicate and should be used soon after purchase. That is not a problem at my house as Don and I love to just munch them. They also have a short season and won’t be in the markets past September, so get them while you can…:)
To make these yummy appetizers I used some big Brown Turkey figs that had reached a perfect stage of sweetness then I combined added crumbles and pieces of a good quality gorgonzola cheese. So simple, yet so good! A little garnish of fresh thyme and, Bam! they are ready to serve.
I recently posted, Roasted Figs in Goat Cheese Custard that is a wonderful, creamy dessert, Don made fast work of two in one sitting. He also loves my homemade fig jam on his morning toast.
This recipe is such a simple appetizer to serve, the creaminess of the gorgonzola cheese compliments the sweetness and crunch of the figs. If you like figs and you like gorgonzola I do believe you will enjoy these appetizers.
