Easy Mole Sauce

Making your own authentic Mole Sauce from scratch does not have to be complicated. It will take some time to complete, but it is worth the effort. We will show you how to make this recipe in a little over one hour.

Chicken broth Bacon grease Dried ancho or mulato chiles Guajillo chiles Dried chipotle chiles White bread Corn tortillas Tomatoes Tomatillos Onion Garlic Dried cranberries Peanuts Almonds Pumpkin seeds Sesame seeds Ground cumin Dried thyme Ground cinnamon Ground allspice Ground cloves Salt Unsweetened chocolate


Heat broth in a large pot and remove the stems and seeds from the chile peppers. Then, char the ingredients by working  in batches as you brown them, then add them to the broth.

Step One

Puree the mixture in a high speed blender until smooth.

Step Two

Transfer the sauce to a pot and heat it over medium heat.

Step Three

Stir in the chopped chocolate. Taste and season.
